Offering bespoke, flexible and relevant training for employers, City of Wolverhampton College is one of the Black Country’s leading employer training providers, working with more than 700 employers each year, including a number of multi nationals.
Our wide range of programmes include apprenticeships, workplace learning, employability programmes for the unemployed and commercially funded projects specifically designed for employers.
Provision is centred on the college mission of equipping people with the skills to succeed, with the college working in partnership with employers to develop a better match between skills and labour market needs. Links include those with the BBC, Moog, Express & Star, Carillion, British Aerospace and Jaguar Land Rover.

Award winning training We have been awarded the Beacon award for employer engagement, in recognition of our work with employers, along with the Training Quality Standard. In our latest Ofsted report, inspectors applauded the way staff worked with employers to develop bespoke training and provide a better skilled workforce across the region.
Training solutions that suit your business We offer bespoke, flexible and relevant training for employers, and can tailor courses to suit your needs- whether that means providing bitesize training or coming to your workplace. Our range of programmes includes apprenticeships, workplace learning and commercially funded projects.
A wealth of experience We are the UK’s leading training provider in plastics and the largest provider of 16-18 apprenticeships in the area. We work with more than 700 employers each year, including a number of multi nationals such as the BBC and MOOG. All of our trainers are highly qualified, have relevant occupational experience and are committed to continuous professional development.
State of the art training facilities We continuously invest in new technology to ensure our training facilities remain state-of-the-art and in line with industry. Our Engineering facilities have recently undergone a £500,000 refurbishment including the installation of brand new equipment – including lathes, CNCs, milling machines and the latest software – as well as a specialist computer aided design suite offering the latest CAD drafting facilities and dedicated CAD/CAM PCs in the workshops.
We invested £300,000 in the Polymer Training & Innovation Centre (PTIC), which is a unique technical training centre offering practical training across a range of processes for the UK polymer industry and includes a wide range of specialist machinery used by companies across the country.
We also have a fully-operational modern Motor Vehicle garage, sports centre, 14-booth welding and fabrication workshop, beauty studios, hi-tech hairdressing trainings in Wolverhampton, Telford and Worcester, training restaurant, purpose built centre for gas training and assessment and employer focussed construction facilities.
A free apprenticeship recruitment service We support businesses with the apprentice recruitment process, ensuring only the best candidates are selected for interview.
Free and subsidised training Working with the Black Country Skills Factory we offer free industry specific training to small and medium employers. We also have access to a wide range of workplace funding to help your training budget go further, and can provide advice and support to help you work through the paperwork.
